Number of households by parent’s status. Households are sorted by number of registered children living at home. Counted at a specified month by year-end. Age group of children living at home differ between countries. Relevant age group of children and reference date is specified in country-note. The variable Household consist of the following categories: Married, Cohabiting, Single, and Other

Country

Denmark

Age group used for counting: children aged 0-24 years living at home. Reference date: 1 January the following year. Other comments: the category 'Other' contains children under the age of 18 living away from home.

Finland

The age group of children is: children aged 0-17 years living at home
Reference date is: 31 December

Iceland

The numbers are based on registries on the 1st of January the following year.

Sweden

Cohabiting people are presented as married.
From 2013, a new register were implemented (population register by appartment). This register enables cohabiting people without common children to be conected. Earlier they where counted as singles.
The age group of the children are 0-17 years. Reference date is November.
